Distant past, not really

It seemed like its been ages since our June vacation visiting family in the US. Especially with the sudden dip in the hot summer humid weather here in the last days, I was more than once reminded of the perfect weather we had during our vacation.
Most of the time the kids were in the backyard, even setting up camp in the garden and enjoying nice big pieces of fresh watermelon.
Little bunny had such a roll with her cousins. Today when she started singing the song from Big Time Rush which she had learnt from her cousin brother I knew that the vacation was definitely not something from the distant past for her. The song has some nice lyrics too, especially like the part which goes like:

Go and shake it up What you gotta loose, Go and make your luck with the life you choose
If you want it all, Lay it on the line. It's the only life you got,So you gotta live it big time
You can find the complete lyrics here.

Really Anokha!

Anokha means unique in Sanskrit. My friend K had rightly chosen Anokha as the name for the unique collection of jewellery that she designs. And I found the whole concept very unique. K comes from Bulgaria, lives in Germany and designs her beautiful jewellery here and finally the jewellery is hand crafted by artisans in the lovely city of Jaipur in India.

Her jewellery is indeed a marriage of Indian and Western influences brought together in the designs. Early this week K invited me over to one of the two yearly exhibitions of her collection. I had liked a lot of the individual pieces online and their lovely names and this was my chance to see them and feel them.

The exhibition took place in a quaint little wine and flower boutique in the small town of Nussloch. Kudos to my lovely friend K who manages to do all this as her hobby in addition to having a full time and a very demanding day job.

Some classy fast food

Loved the restaurant Vapiano. Italian food with a twist I would say. They call it a pasta and pizza bar. I really did not know that this was a chain that was located all over the globe. You are presented with a credit card like device against which everything what you choose to eat is charged. Everything is cooked right in front of your eyes and no waiters breathing down your neck coercing you into deciding something you really don't want to eat. Nice interiors and a very lively ambience.

I enjoyed a nice couscous salad with a fiery chili dip.

The huge choice of Italian pasta made it difficult to decide what you want to settle down for.

The chocolate cake was rightly called 'Death by chocolate' perfectly complimented by a nice shot of espresso.
Hubby and me are already looking forward to our next visit there.

Stockbrot and Marshmallows

Well summer days are meant for toasting almost everything on a nice campfire.
Little bunny's friend's parents invited all of us over to their nice farm house nestled nicely into the border of the nearby forest.
A lovely green space indeed where the kids could run, play in the sand pits, eat wild berries and fruits. But I think the best part of the evening was when Mr. V cut up some wood to get the bonfire going.
After that all the kids got to create their own stockbrot which is a clump of bread dough at the tip of a nice long stick and toast it directly on the fire.
I also enjoyed some nice warm toasted marshmallows.

Does it matter now?

Have’nt still gotten over the bitter loss that Germany had against Spain in the semi-finals on Wednesday 07-07-2010. But well, it’s just a sport and in sport the best team always wins. I wondered how well my colleagues at work were able to detach themselves emotionally from the game. Thats an art, that definitely I need to master.
Well, well it really does not matter to me now who wins the world cup. Of course the better team will win hopefully. Lets see if that's going to be Netherlands or Spain. Nor does it matter to me if Germany would get the third place beating Uruguay coming Saturday. Atleast thats what I think today but come Saturday and lets see how I feel. Anyway time to relax on the weekend, put my legs up and really enjoy the match no strings attached whatsoever. The octopus can make his pick.

Summerfest and celebrations

It was the Sommerfest in Wiesloch starting Friday 2 July until 4 July. The best part of the festival was on 3 July after 18:00 pm.

The whole town was celebrating the victory of Germany against Argentina 4:0. The match was just unbelievable.
I was ga ga over the last match already but this one beat all expectations. I mean, come on Argentina of all teams and such a major defeat.

Well it was party time in Wiesloch and we all had such a blast. Now again I am nervous thinking about Wednesday evening where Germany will meet Spain in the Semi-Final.

I hope to post more such pics of jubilation next week as well :-)

Where the streets have no name

Always enjoy some of the long walks with the kids which are decided more on the spur of the moment. Little bunny always makes sure that she gets all the answers. 'Mama where are we going?' 'Can you tell me where we are Mama?'
The other day I told her that the street we were on did not have a name. Atleast I could not find one and she said 'So sad for the street Mama :-)' But I think no street can hide behind the scenes, what with Google maps making sure that every coordinate is mapped to precision.
Sometimes it would also be good to have streets that have no names, as long you know where to find them ;-)
