Our local town painted a pretty picture over the weekend. With the last days of the Winzerfest everybody was indeed in celebrative spirits. It was nice to see the Weinkönigins (wine queens) of the region greeting everybody with their lovely smiles.
The Weinkönigins offically are ambassadors of the local wines produced in the region.
I understand that the selection process includes detailed testing about their knowledge on wines. This means rigorous exams with questions about viticultural and winemaking techniques, as well as wine labeling, packaging and marketing aspects.
I was also pleasantly surprised to meet my friend K, a mother of two and a business consultant by profession very happily making crepes at the crepe stand.
She told me that this has been her hobby over the last 15 years!! Would love to take that up as a hobby myself, but first need to gain some subject matter expertise!
As I am writing this post I am craving for some of those yummy Quark dumplings that was sold by the dozen at the bakery Rutz on that day.

It is a lovely place to go on a team event and even better, take along your family. If you decide to climb up the tower you will be truly rewarded as the view over the Rhine valley is spectacular.
You can see all the way from the city of

Forgot to mention that the castle itself dates back all the way to the 12'th century!! Another place to file away as a destination for a day trip.
Over lunch today @ work a colleague mentioned that certain areas of Germany like in
Even if you don't eat fish I think the whole bustling market is a feast to your senses.
It was scorching hot on that day and I remember that we had gallons of freshly squeezed lemonades, tasted some delicious crab cakes and consumed copious amounts of steamed crabs. I spied some yummy looking tarts on display in some of the shop's windows but did not actually try it out.

I did not dare try it out but little bunny seems to have mastered the art early on. Luckily she went along with some of our friends and we told her that we would rather give little rabbit some company on ground level. It was fun for the kids to try out the bungee trampoline where they could wear a climbing harness and jump up and down on a giant trampoline.
I thought that the bumper cars was more my kinda thing but after two rounds I definitely had enough.
Hot waffles, crepes with nutella and lots of candy and I think despite the weather we made the best of the day.
It was fun like every year to recreate that atmosphere at home. Little bunny kept asking if she could invite all her friends over for the

She also decided that she wanted to get her face painted like a leopard.
Little rabbit yelled in delight when the carousel went up and down.
Fun stuff indeed for the kids, but for us parents who originally came to also check out some of the hot air balloons it took for ever for some of them to take off.
