For the love of pumpkins

Little rabbit turned 6 months old last week and I slowly have got her started on eating solid foods now. One of her fav foods at the moment is mashed pumpkins. So pumpkins seem to be around most of the time at home. Seeing so many pumpkin pies being baked over Thanksgiving thought I would try it out myself.

With my little bunny to help me out in measuring all the ingredients it was fun to make it.

Puree one roasted pumpkin.

Roll out the pie crust.

Line the pan with the pie crust.
Cut out the extra edges of the dough.
Make a lot of holes on the surface so that it does not rise.
Blind bake the pie for 10 minutes.
Pour in the mashed pumpkin mixed with spices.
I also used some powdered ginger in the mixture.
All ready to be baked for an hour.
All of us enjoyed the pie and I took some over to S's for lunch as well.

Sauerkrautmarkt in St. Leon

Found it interesting that this yearly market in the little town of St. Leon first took place in 1482.
The name originates from the fact that this is the time when fresh sauerkraut is made during the year.
Some of my friends mentioned this and we decided to check it out earlier in the month (8 Nov).
It had all the ingredients for a nice evening out. Loved the crepes!

California rolls and more..

Loved my lunch!! Sushi is definitely one of my fav food. Its such a pity that hubby and little bunny do not enjoy it as much as I do.

Love the Tokyo Sushi bar in Mannheim!!

A nice place and also some good menus to chose from all served with a yummy Miso soup as a starter.

Bastel (Craft) time

Halloween was long over but that did not stop bunny and me in making our own mask shaped like a pumpkin.
With the days getting shorter it is more fun to spend time doing stuff together indoors.
So we drew, traced, cut and shaped our mask together.
It was a lot of fun!

Bramborove Knedliky

Bramborove Knedliky means potato dumplings in Czech. On Monday (23 Nov) my dear friend S invited me over for a nice Czech lunch. It was a pleasure to watch her hand make these really awesome dumplings. She started off with a mixture of mashed and grated potatoes, flour, semolina, a little butter and an egg.
She kneaded it till it was nice and firm.
Then she cut it very quickly into long pieces and shaped them out like Gnocchi.
They were quickly immersed into very hot water and cooked until they start floating.
She strained them into serving dishes and added a very hearty serving of freshly ground poppy seeds and powdered sugar.
Drizzle hot butter on top.
I ate it nice and hot and I did not realise my whole plate was empty in a matter of minutes.

Party time for the kiddies

Little bunny's dear friend K turned three today (Nov 22). The whole week little bunny mentioned every now and then that it would soon be K's birthday. The party venue was Jumpinn in the city of Heidelberg. The kids had a blast in the giant maze of different indoor games.

It was also a chance for us to catch up with friends and see what everybody were up to in the recent months.

I loved the cake and the whole Mcqueen car theme for the party. Also loved the nice books that little bunny and little rabbit received as party favors.

Busy little hands

Little bunny was very busy in the last days.
She has been kneading, rolling, cutting and baking some yummy cookies. Cookies of all shapes and sizes were designed. The kitchen was smelling heavenly but the countertop looked like a desert of flour ;-) We all ended up eating the spoils even before they could really cool down. Need to repeat the whole exercise soon.
